Product Description

Non-Weep Pressure Regulator

The model 1000A1 Non-Weep Zero Pressure Regulator offers an entirely new approach to chemical metering into pumping systems using pressurized water supplies. The use of this regulator eliminates the need for troublesome float tanks with their  inherent problems of corrosion, leakage, stuck float valves, clogged filter screens and excessive space requirements. Overall equipment costs are also less with the use of this regulator. Major construction material used are brass & stainless steel.

Unlike any other conventional water supply regulator, the 1000A1 uses a "demand" principle of operation. This regulator is in a normally closed position. When the pump is turned on a negative pressure, or vacuum, is instantly produced in the pump suction line. This vacuum pressure acts upon the regulator diaphragm and begins to open the regulator and allow water to enter the pump. As this vacuum reaches approximately 5" Hg (mercury), the regulator will balance and hold this negative suction line pressure. Even if the main water supply pressure changes or bounces up and down, the 1000A1 will maintain a precise vacuum which is used to draw chemical into the system. Chemical metering into the pumping system is more exact thanwith any other method except a precision metering pump. A built-in return check valve allows the suction line to balance out the normal water supply pressure.

Special Note For Hot Water Usage:
While the 1000A1 can be successfully used with hot water temperatures of up to 160°F, it may require more frequent lubrication and internal cleaning due to scale deposits that occur with hot water heaters. Also, some reduction in system capacity will occur at temperatures above 120°F. This reduction is due to a partial gassing of the water as it is brought to a negative pressure in the regulator. It is not a harmful occurence, nor does it indicate that the regulator is functioning improperly. It will, in some cases, dramatically reduce the normal nozzle pressure, suggesting that the regulator is malfunctioning. But since nozzle pressure is a square root function of system flow, the nozzle pressure can reduce quite dramatically with only a relatively small decrease in pumping volume. To bring the nozzle pressure back to normal, select an appropriate nozzle size for this slightly reduced system flow.

Service Note:
This unit is fully rebuildable with our rebuild kit (RE1000A1K) which contains all parts necessary to place the unit back in normal operation.
