CryptoTap Plus is CryptoPay's next step in providing top-notch cashless payment for car washes! This credit card and mobile payment reader is a standalone tap and pay unit that does NOT need to be paired with a CryptoPay swiper.
The device has a small footprint with a simple but clear design featuring the tap and pay symbol and colorful LEDs on the edge. This version of the CryptoTap Plus is used with car wash coin boxes and vacuums, so it comes with an external push button with a red light for count up mode and green light for count down mode. CryptoTap Plus accepts: contactless credit cards and debit cards, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay.

CryptoTap Plus readers are standalone units that accept various tap to pay methods like credit cards, debits cards, and mobile payment. Unlike regular CryptoTap units, CryptoTap Plus devices do NOT require a CryptoPay swiper for operation. That means less equipment to install and monitor, and the unit itself has a smaller footprint than the regular version. Question:Have had the swiper system in our self-serve bays for several years. Will the new, reduced size tap and pay work WITH the already installed swiper, or must it be removed? Does the new red/green illuminated button require an additional hole drilled into the column door? If so, what diameter hole does it require for the opening? Thank you.

Response:Hi Vivian, Yes, CryptoTap Plus can be installed alongside an existing credit card swiper in self serve bays, vacuums, and vending machines. There is a caveat to this. Since both devices are standalone, neither the CryptoTap Plus nor the credit card swiper are communicating with one another. A customer could theoretically tap their card and swipe their card and pay twice for the same service or give themselves double the amount of time.
Only a single device, either CryptoTap Plus or the credit card swiper, can be installed on an automatic retrofit kit. Like the CryptoPay Goldline, ACW4/5, Wash Select II kits.
A better solution would be to purchase CryptoTap Standard if keeping the credit card swiper is desired. The 2 devices will work together seamlessly in all applications.
As far as the button, A 16 mm (approx. 5/8 inch) panel cutout hole must be drilled for push button mounting.
